Craft an artisanal candle with an Okinawan-based aroma specialist by distilling a personalized, hand-harvested scent.
Okinawa’s warm climate allows for the cultivation of tropical plants incapable of growing on Japan’s mainland. This environment has nurtured the growth of fragrant, medicinal, edible, and ornamental plants for use in teas, medicines, fragrances, and candles.
The garden — cultivated with great care by the aroma specialist — is situated between two sacred sites and supported by a natural spring. Additionally, fertilizer sourced from branches and leaves within the garden ensure the ecosystem is healthy and self-sustaining.
ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
Guests will tour the garden and harvest plants with the desired scents and properties. Using a Portuguese-crafted copper still, believed to enhance the fragrance and improve preservation, they will distill the plants into herbal water. While waiting, herbal tea and sweets will be provided. The experience will conclude with the creation of candles utilizing the guests’ handpicked scents.

She is a self-taught candle artist with an innate knowledge of plants. Launching the candle division of a successful fragrance company, her mastery over fragrance, distillation, and craftsmanship marks her as a specialized artisan.
